General advice
Rescue does not just take dogs in for rehoming. We are also here to offer help and advice to troubled Munster owners. We appreciate that a Munster who is dearly loved can also pose a problem to his owner and family. We are happy to lend a sympathetic ear, and advise you on any problem. The sooner you seek help with a problem, the better. No genuine plea for help is ever ignored.
We follow the BARF diet, which can be found in the book "The BARF Diet" by Dr. Ian Billinghurst, B.V.Sc (Hons),B.Sc.Agr., Dip Ed. "Raw Feeding for Dogs and Cats Using Evolutionary Principles". Copies of these books are available from Rae.
We recommend using Wholebake Natural Choice biscuit which is a holistic product and is licensed by the British Association of Holistic Nutrition and Medicine. For nearest stockists contact Natural Choice Limited in Bridgwater, Somerset. Telephone 01278 652184, fax 01278 653257 email : info@holisticfeeds.com and the website is www.holisticfeeds.com The leaflet states "Unadulterated cereals and nutrient rich herbage complementary food. No artificial ingredients. No preservatives or synthetics. No GM Ingredients. Feeding Guide - give as one third of the total volume of food.
Amongst other things we feed vegetables and fruit, raw chicken wings and mince (chicken beef lamb etc). Natural yoghurt, cottage cheese, pilchards/sardines, honey, and eggs.
All of our Rescue dogs go out with the diet sheet - suggested feeding programme and a supply of food to last them a couple of days whilst the new owners acclimatise themselves to the new regime. It sounds complicated and may worry some people initially, but it very quickly becomes second nature.
