Large Munsterlander Rescue
We aim never to turn away any Munsterlander
Why?
This poem appeared in the Autumn 2004 edition of F.O.R.U.M.
Why am I in this awful place?
Did I do something wrong?
Why doesn't someone talk to me?
It's been so very long.

I'm cold and very lonely and
I'm frightened when it's dark.
Strange people come and look at me
And try to make me bark.

Where is my loving master?
Where is my fireside chair?
What have I done to hurt him?
Does he think I didn't care?

I showed him that I loved him
Of that I'm very sure.
Perhaps it wasn't quite enough
Please let me try once more.

What happened to my babies,
When the man took us away?
I remember they were crying
On that dreadful, dreadful day.

They wouldn't let me see them,
They put me in this pen.
They say I might go home again,
Will someone tell me when?

Will someone tell my master?
That I'm lonely and afraid,
That I love him and I miss him,
And I promise to behave.
