I live with my humans Simon and Phillipa and three other Munsters. From left to right in the picture there’s me, then my little brother Hector who is 8 months old and well, you know what to expect with a kid that age. Then there is Humphrey who is not much older than I am; he is two and was so kind when I first moved in and we are the best of buddies. Great Uncle Bruce is at the far right. He is getting an elderly chap as he is 11½.
My humans, having owned a rescue Munster previously and when they lost one of dear Bruce’s pals, decided to put their name on the Rescue list again. It seemed they were out of luck and after a long wait they decided to buy Humphrey. It was when he was six months old that they got a call from Rae saying that there were fifteen pups just come in to Rescue. Well they of course said that having already got a puppy there was no way they could take on another. Well just imagine; one 6-month-old pup is a bit of a handful without taking on a younger one!
That evening when they were discussing it again they thought, oh! Well why not? (Some folk may think them mad but we love them to bits!) They went to see the pups and said they wanted a nice quiet one. Well unlike Yvie, who got a bad name as soon as we arrived at Rescue because she was hyperactive and just plain trouble, I was nice and laid back and in fact just what they had ordered. I was very car sick on the way home and it was quite a while before I got better.
When I got to my new home I chose a lovely comfy bean bag as my bed and Humphrey said he was so pleased to have another youngster who could do play things and did not mind being roughly treated. He said that great Uncle Bruce liked being treated with respect and did not like being disturbed when he was having a nap.
Do you like the snap on the left, of Humphrey and me when I was a baby? You must admit that I was a real good-looker. (Excuse the fat tummy, I have done exercises to get rid of that!)
I am a shy sort of chap and leave all the socialising stuff to the other three. They go in for that big time. Well I did this quiet lark until I had sussed the human’s mood and they had signed the adoption forms, then I showed them what I was really like. They were in for a shock. Unfortunately, when I was just 10 months old and doing my exuberance thing, I was running so fast, tumbled head over heals and dislocated my hip. Oh the awful pain of it! I did try so hard to be brave but I was unable to walk. It meant that I had to be rested and the most awful thing about it I had to go for Hydrotherapy.
Now I know Munsters are supposed to like water, I know most Munsters do like water but I HATE IT. Some folk think the photo of me on my back in the pool is when I am practising the backstroke. Well they are wrong. I am trying to get as much of me out of the water as I can. Us fifteen kids were all special but my mum says the reason I don’t like water is because I am very extra special!
We are all kept very busy; we are not into that show sort of stuff as we can’t spare the time. We like chasing bunny rabbits and catching pigeons. I have managed to make contact with Yvie and my humans say that we are in travelling distance and they are going to take us four to meet her and her four sisters.
When browsing through F.O.R.U.M. I have seen Tails and pictures of Zac, my brother, who has a curled up tail like Yvie and is a keen gardener. I also read about another sister, Epi who is keen on watching T.V. Then there is Puzzle. Are you one of us, as you look very like the rest of us? Looking at the Rescue website there is Dillon and he has the lovely tongue that Yvie and I favour, and Smudge are you one of the Special fifteen? As we are so special (I doubt that 15 pups go into Rescue very often!!) it would be so lovely to hear from you.
